Dear Mr. and Mrs. Layton
I am
excited for this opportunity I have to introduce myself to you. I am a hard
working individual who enjoys being with people and helping them with their
needs. I am very good at following instructions and finishing the tasks that I
am given. My abilities to learn and adapt quickly to my environment and my
assignments have helped me in my formal education as well as in my previous
jobs. I believe that the skills and attributes that I have acquired will help
me be successful as an employee at American Drain Works. My experiences in
school and work have helped me develop skills such as being a fast
problem-solver, having a strong work ethic, communicating well, being diligent
in completing the tasks at hand, and having experience with general office
tasks. I have received my associates degree and plan on getting my bachelor’s
degree in petroleum engineering. I am highly motivated to work for American
Drain Works, and I believe I have the drive and characteristics needed to do
well in the company.
One of my previous jobs included working as a seasonal crew
member for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for 3 years. Our tasks consisted
of building fence on federal land and completing many different tree cutting
projects, which either a chain saw or a skid loader was used. I also traveled
around the county and gathered plant samples that we then dried and measured to
find the moisture content. As part of my position, I needed to determine the
magnitude of fire danger in the area and make sure there were procedures and
regulations in place that would keep citizens safe. I also fought fire, and
learned the proper techniques and skills needed to efficiently suppress a wild
fire.
Another job that trained me in ways that will help American
Drain Works, is my time with Alpine Window Washing. For this position, I was
expected to work alone and drive to the assignments that I was given. During
this employment, I had the opportunity to work face-to-face with customers and
made sure they received the service they needed. I make sacrifices and put
forth effort so that I can benefit the companies I work for. I can use Windows
Excel very thoroughly and complete company reports on time.
From my experiences, I have developed the ability to work
hard in whatever job or circumstances I am confronted with. I am able to be
calm and to think clearly in high stress environments and to carry out an
assignment and finish it diligently. I have acquired the ability to see what
needs to be done and do it while also being efficient. I make sure the work
that I do is of the best quality for my employer and the client. I look forward
to hearing back from you and know I would be a great asset to American Drain
Works.
I appreciate you for taking the time to look at my resume
and hope I am considered for the position.
Sincerely,
Ben Shipley
